The Artist Story
For Arturo Samaniego, art has never been simply a profession. It has been a lifelong calling. Growing up under the artistic influence of his father, Arturo began drawing and painting at an early age. Yet it would take four decades before he could devote himself fully to his passion.
At 40, despite owning a successful computer business in Texas, he found himself increasingly unfulfilled. Long days at the office were followed by late nights painting in his garage studio, often exhausted but driven by an irresistible need to create. He wondered what might be possible if he could give his art the time and energy it deserved. Eventually, he made a life-changing decision: he sold his business and moved to Florida to pursue art wholeheartedly. As he explains, “The thing about artists is you don’t really have a choice. You must create art if you are to exist in any real sense.” Today, with more than two decades devoted to his artistic journey, Arturo creates contemporary abstract paintings that explore the expressive possibilities of color, texture, light, and movement. His work moves between quiet contemplation and bold visual energy, always seeking to evoke emotion and offer what he calls “a new visual experience.”
The Making
The Creative Process
Every painting begins with an inspiration—an emotion, a fleeting impression, or an idea waiting to take shape. Working primarily with acrylics, often incorporating layers of resin, Arturo explores the interplay of color, texture, light, and movement. Through an intuitive process of experimentation and discovery, his compositions evolve into richly layered works that invite the viewer to look beyond the surface. His artistic expression unfolds across four distinct collections: Coastal, inspired by the colors and luminous beauty of sea and sky; Urban, celebrating vibrant energy and contemporary drama; Serenity, exploring stillness, harmony, and subtle atmospheric transitions; and Incorruptible Gold, where the radiance of gold evokes a sense of the spiritual and transcendent. No two paintings are ever alike. Even when creating a commissioned work inspired by an existing piece, Arturo approaches each canvas as a new creative journey, resulting in an original artwork with its own character and identity.
Mentorship
The Classroom
Arturo teaches small-group painting classes from his studio in the Naples Art District. The philosophy is simple: “I teach the how, not the what.” Whether working with first-time painters or experienced artists, his goal is the same — give students the technical tools to find their own creative voice. Classes are kept to 8-10 students on average to ensure individual attention. Students choose their own medium (oils or acrylics) and style. All levels are welcome.
